THE HOUSE
The Block is our newest house. Built in 2024 and now available for rent! The house is located at the edge of a tiny lake in Bergentheim (in the north of the province of Overijssel) on its own forest plot. The Block is constructed with large concrete stones (hence the name :-)). The house opens up to the lake side with large glass doors leading to a terrace with a hot tub and view over the lake. From the hot tub, you can run straight into the lake for a refreshing swim or take a boat from your own pier to explore the lake.
The house is designed in such a way that you have a clear view of the water while maintaining privacy from the nearby houses: Lake House from 2021 (also for rent with us), a steel house we built in 2022, and a 1970s concrete gem we bought a few years ago. You drive to the house along a beautiful winding forest path, full of rhododendrons, which were only planted 3 years ago as small plants and have already grown into large shrubs!
The Block has an open-plan, split-level design. You enter through the hallway, with bedrooms and a bathroom on both sides and an elevated kitchen in the middle. The kitchen looks over a sunken living area and dining area, and of course, the lake. The living area features a large sofa with a wood stove and a projector for your movie nights. Both the living area and dining area have access to a large terrace with plenty of bamboo and a hot tub. The bedrooms each have a double bed. One bedroom is fully enclosed, while the other overlooks low cabinets with large plants and the living area, with view of the lake. The house is (like all our homes) a mix of built-in furniture and vintage design. For example, in the dining area, there’s a cool space-age table with chairs we found in Germany.
The Block and Lake House are next to each other, making it ideal if you want to rent two houses!

A heat pump provides heating and hot water, and the house has its own wastewater system
Note:
The house is by the water, so bring a life jacket for small children.
In the vicinity of the house runs a bigger road (N-road). We have built the house in such a way that the noise from the road is minimized, and we have also constructed natural sound barriers in the forest. Do keep this in mind when booking if you are sensitive to noise.

RATES, AVAILABILITY AND BOOKING
in low season the rental price is 185 Euro per night based on a stay of 2 persons
in high season the rental price is 245 Euro per night based on a stay of 2 persons. You’ll find the dates for high season on the INFO page.
if you stay with more than 2 persons you'll pay an extra charge of 25 Euro per person per night for the 3rd and 4th person.
in low season the minimum stay is 3 nights on weekends (Friday to Monday) and 2 nights during the week (Monday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Friday)
in high season minimum stay is 3 nights on weekends (Friday to Monday) and 4 nights during the week (Monday-Friday). You’ll find the dates for high season on the INFO page.
during Summer and Christmas minimum stay is a week (Fri-Fri)
final cleaning is mandatory and is 95 Euro per stay.
tourist tax is 1,05 Euro per person per night.
babies up to 1 year old stay for free. Please bring your own baby cot or bedding for the baby.
your stay includes bath linen, bed linen and kitchen linen, unlimited use of firewood, Smit & Dorlas coffee cups, Clipper tea, delicious soap by the Dutch brand Marie Stella Maris (Objet d’Amsterdam), use of the hot tub, basic household supply (olive oil, salt, pepper etc).

The Block is located at Sportlaan 17 in Bergentheim. The Lake House is best reached by car. You can park your car(s) next to the house.
