THe House
In 2021, we built the Lake House. The house is situated on the edge of a small lake in Bergentheim (the northern part of Overijssel) on its own woodland plot. It is designed to offer a clear view of the water while maintaining privacy from nearby houses: a steel house that we set up in 2022 and a charming 1970s concrete house we bought several years ago. The side walls of the Lake House are made of concrete retaining walls, the back wall and chimney are made of misshapen bricks, which during the baking process formed various unique shapes creating a beautiful effect. The front consists of large glass fronts facing the water.
Lake House has an open-plan design, thus it has almost no doors. All rooms overlook the water. You enter into the kitchen (stainless steel cooking island with bar) and have a view over the seating area that is slightly lower. There you will find a large sofa with a wood stove and a projector. A few steps higher and hidden behind a low cabinet with built-in plant boxes is a sleeping area with a double bed. The bathroom has two delightful rain showers and looks out over the double bed to the outside. In the kitchen wall behind the kitchen are two high single beds.
In front of the glass front, there is a large wooden deck by the water with a lounge bed and sofa with an outdoor stove. Right next to the house, you'll find a hot tub! From the hot tub, you can run to the lake to cool off or take the canoe to explore the lake.
Approx. 90 m² and suitable for max 4 people.
Complete kitchen with dishwasher, oven, fridge.
Bathroom with double shower.
There is a soundbar for music and a projector for your movie nights.
Built-in wood stoves inside and outside.
The house has a double bed (1.80 x 2.10m) and two single beds (0.90 x 2.10m).
The mattresses are from Emma, and all duvets and pillows are anti-allergenic.
The house has a washing machine and dryer.
Wifi via fiber optic.
Your pet is welcome. The area around Lake House is open.
A heat pump provides heating and hot water, and the house has its own wastewater system.
Note:
The cabin is by the water, so bring a life jacket for small children.
Next to the double bed, there are two cozy single beds integrated into the back wall of the kitchen. These face each other and can be closed off with curtains.
To the left of the house is a 1970s house we bought a few years ago, and directly opposite the house, we built a steel house in 2022. We designed and built the houses in such way to provide maximum privacy from each other.
In the vicinity of the house runs an boigger road (N-road). We have built the house in such a way that the noise from the road is minimized, and we have also constructed natural sound barriers in the forest. Keep this in mind when booking if you are sensitive to noise.
RATES, AVAILABILITY AND BOOKING
in low season the rental price is 175 Euro per night based on a stay of 2 persons
In high season the rental price is 220 Euro per night based on a stay of 2 persons. You’ll find the dates for high season on the INFO page.
if you stay with more than 2 persons you'll pay an extra charge of 25 Euro per person per night for the 3rd and 4th person.
in low season the minimum stay is 3 nights on weekends (Friday to Monday) and 2 nights during the week (Monday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Friday)
in high season minimum stay is 3 nights on weekends (Friday to Monday) and 4 nights during the week (Monday-Friday). You’ll find the dates for high season on the INFO page.
during Summer and Christmas minimum stay is a week (Fri-Fri)
final cleaning is mandatory and is 95 Euro per stay.
tourist tax is 1,05 Euro per person per night.
babies up to 1 year old stay for free. Please bring your own baby cot or bedding for the baby.
if you bring your dog (max. 1 dog), the extra charge is 50 Euros per stay.
your stay includes bath linen, bed linen and kitchen linen, unlimited use of firewood, canoe, Smit & Dorlas coffee cups, Clipper tea, delicious soap by the Dutch brand Marie Stella Maris (Objet d’Amsterdam), use of the hot tub and basic household supply (olive oil, salt, pepper etc).

The Lake House is located at Sportlaan in Bergentheim. The Lake House is best reached by car. You can park your car(s) next to the house.
